Kids Flag Football FAQs

• What are the kids flag football uniform colors this season?
  The colors for the 12-13 kids flag football season (from 7/1/2012 until 6/30/2013)  are black and gold, similar to the color scheme used by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

• How much does it cost to participate in a kids flag football league or kids flag football camp?
  Each church sets its own registration fees. Please contact your local kids flag football program directly to find out what your kids flag football league or camp will cost.

• Are there any scholarships available for this kids flag football program?
  Our kids flag football leagues offer scholarship to children with a parent actively deployed overseas with the United States Military. Most Upward Sports Leagues also provide some type of scholarship for families who aren’t able to afford the program costs. Please contact your local kids flag football league to find out what scholarships are available.

• Are the kids flag football evaluations a tryout?
  Nope! Flag football evaluations are designed to create balanced teams and give each player an opportunity to improve his/her football skills.

• What size football should my child practice with?
  We recommend a pee wee football for K5-2nd graders and a junior football for 3rd-6th graders.

• Is there physical contact in this league?
  This is a no-contact league, and penalties for contact will be enforced. Tackling, blocking, stiff-arming or physical contact of any kind is not allowed.

• How do I care for the kids flag football uniform?
  • Machine wash cold with like colors on gentle cycle.
  • Do not bleach, but use non-chlorinated detergent.
  • Line dry. Do not tumble dry.
  • Do not iron or dry clean.

• What does Upward Sports believe?
  The Upward Sports Program was founded on the following beliefs:
  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, authoritative, Word of God.
  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
