Upward Stars basketball player Brevin Galloway, a 2017 Charleston commit, gives us a rundown on his high school season where he was named to the AAA All-State team in South Carolina. Look for regular updates from Brevin throughout the upcoming AAU Tournament season!
Transferring my senior year was something I always had talked about doing, but never thought it'd actually take place. We moved from Anderson to Seneca, a city way smaller. Not knowing what to expect, we moved because we felt like God was calling us too. After talking with the coaches & faculty at Seneca High, we knew it was our place to be. Our season this year was crazy. We did stuff the city has never seen before. We went undefeated in the region and won the first region championship in 11 years. We also made it to the Upperstate finals in Greenville before losing to AC Flora off a buzzer beater. Tough loss. We were close to winning the first ever state championship for the school. But we still made history and made everyone proud.
Now I'm looking forward to this North Carolina/South Carolina All-Star Game in Myrtle Beach. It's on March 19th, but I get to leave school on Wednesday to head to the beach for five days, so it should be fun!
After that I'll be preparing for another summer of AAU. I normally would be getting on campus for college like any other senior, but with Charleston's scholarship situation, I'm reclassifying and joining the 2017 class. This allows me to enjoy another year of AAU season with Upward. Out of all the AAU teams I've played with, Upward is my favorite. They run everything through Christ and are like one big family. They've made my AAU experience so much fun, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us this summer!
