Local Churches and Kids Sports League Reach Out to Community
Now in its third year, Mission Upstate will provide 2,000 free backpacks for Greenville-area kids and families in need. Fifteen local churches and one Spartanburg kids sports league are filling backpacks with school supplies for elementary, middle and high school students. The backpacks will be distributed at the Chick-Fil-A on Woodruff Road on August 6, 2011. |

From Upward Basketball to NCAA Athlete
Former Upward Basketball player Kelsey Wyss credits Upward Sports for preparing her for college-level competition. Kelsey, now a guard for Eastern Illinois’ women’s basketball team, explains, “My Upward Basketball coaches taught me the basic skills I needed to participate at a higher level.” Kelsey says that the Upward Basketball experience also taught her that she can play the game with excellence in a way that honors God. In 18 games so far this season, Kelsey has averaged 4.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. |
