Player evaluations are very important for the Upward Basketball League. Evaluations have to be done in order to create equal teams. It is also the first opportunity your league has to minister to the players and their families. That is why it is important to have quality volunteers in place who can deliver a great experience.
As coach commissioner, you play a major role in finding several of these quality volunteers. By the time evaluations are conducted, you may still be recruiting coaches or may be soon conducting your coach training conference. Whichever the case, you should be able to identify some coaches who would enjoy the opportunity to minister to the children by serving as volunteers to run the various evaluation drills.
Player evaluations provide an additional opportunity to recruit coaches. As parents register their children, make them aware of any coaching vacancies that still exist. Parents may be interested in coaching or may know someone who has expressed interest in serving this way. Some parents may not volunteer on the registration form because they don’t think they are needed or because they cannot be present for every practice and game. Address these issues at evaluations.
